It is a non profit private business association that provides technical services, R&D support and deployment of technology solutions to the metal_mechanical sector enterprises. It is looking for a consoritum to take part of it as a partner.

It is a non profit private business association that provides technical services, R&D support and deployment of technology solutions to the metal_mechanical sector enterprises

Facilities are composed of: Material laboratory, Calibration laboratory, Metrology laboratory, Fire extinguisher testing laboratory, Phytosanitary machinery testing laboratory, Irrigation materials laboratory, Rapid prototyping, Windows test rig and Inspection Centre of compressed air
cylinders.

The Material Laboratory covers the characterization or identification of material whose origin is not known, evaluation of the properties of materials to check the quality that has been acquired and identification of the causes of a material fault when in service.

Research group for corrosion focuses on the study of metal corrosion processes and processes that improve behaviour and increase service life.

OUR DEPARTMENTS:

• INDUSTRIAL ORGANISATION
It is staffed with qualified, expert personnel equipped with the material resources needed to perform and implement studies related to optimising and controlling productivity, such as the following:

Labour force productivity Organisation and simplification of production flows Process quality
Ergonomic conditions at the work post Freeing_up of surface areas Rates of use of machinery
Staff communication and encouragement (the key factors behind good relations).
Optimisation of methods and times Work measurement

• INDUSTRIAL SAFETY AND QUALITY
Quality management systems Environmental management systems EC marking Measurement of noise levels

• PRODUCT AND PROCESS ENGINEERING
The required services range from the preparation of plans, the development of new product designs, tooling studies and the solving of technical issues to rapid prototyping and the optimisation of complex mechanical elements and structures (to enable the reduction of the material on structural elements, and simulation of behaviour and the adaptation of the
final design to reduce manufacturing costs).

Main activities are:

Rapid prototyping
Industrial design
Product design
Industrial automation and robotics
Calculation of material resistance and structure

• CALIBRATION LABORATORY
Gauges are subject to variation and, consequently, they must be calibrated regularly to guarantee that they are in good condition for their purpose.

• METROLOGY LABORATORY
To guarantee the end quality of the product, the Metrology Laboratory verifies the technical specifications that refer to dimension and geometry, tolerances and comparisons with CAD models.

This service uses high precision gauges:

Machine for three dimensional coordinate measurements
Profile projector
Roughness tester
Longitudinal standard blocks
In addition, there is a model digitalisation and inverse engineering
service, as well as a
service for the creation of CAD 3D models.

• MATERIALS LABORATORY
Main activities are characterising or identifying material whose origin is not known, evaluating the properties of materials to check the quality that has been acquired and identify the causes of a material fault when in service.

Research group for corrosion phenomena affecting metallic materials.

The research group focuses on the study of metal corrosion processes and processes that improve behaviour and increase service life. It carries out basic and applied research work as part of various regional and national projects and research projects agreed with enterprises. It has staff qualified in the various areas of corrosion and the necessary equipment.

The main lines of work are as follows:
Detection of corrosion points
Study of the possible causes of corrosion
Proposed solutions for the problems found

• FIRE EXTINGUISER TESTING LABORATORY
The CTMETAL extinguisher laboratory is certified by ENAC (236/LE589) for performing the tests provided in the EN 3 (UNE 23110) standard.

The various sections of the standard provide numerous tests to be performed on extinguishers, including mechanical tests (breaking pressure, force required to remove the ring) and effectiveness tests (size of the fire the extinguisher is capable of putting out).

The FIRE SHED is a cubic building measuring 20 m, with an exterior metal structure to minimise the effects of the heat produced on the pillars inside the building. In the building, fire extinguisher effectiveness tests are performed in accordance with the procedure provided in the EN_3
standard, which classifies fire extinguishers according to the size and types of fire they can put out.
