Worldwide it has been accepted that the emissions of CO2 must be considerably reduced to reach the target of limiting the temperature rise by 2 K. In this context CCS (carbon capture and storage) plays a key role in the climate-friendly energy supply specially in coal fired power plants. North Rhine-Westphalia as an important German coal and energy region has - especially in the European context - a particular responsibility in implementing climate protection goals.
Therefore, the cluster EnergyRegion.NRW with its network power plants is organising a workshop on "CCS and CCR (carbon capture and reuse)”. The workshop is organized in cooperation with Norway and the Netherlands. All three countries have specific know-how in capture, transport, storage and reuse of CO2.
Market players along the value chain will be present. In order to fully exploit of this potential, NRW.Europa at ZENIT will organise a matchmaking where transnational synergies can be developed. This will be an opportunity to establish new contacts and discuss current issues directly. The participants will be able to expand their activities and pursue concrete coopera-tions.
Prior to the workshop co-operation profiles and project ideas of the participating companies, experts, research institutes and universities will be collected and published via an online cata-logue from which the participants can select the ones of interest to them. NRW.Europa will collect and coordinate all meeting requests and send out individual meeting schedules to the participants. The bilateral meetings will take place in the afternoon of 24 November.
The workshop concentrates on Germany, Norway and the Netherlands. Interested organisations from other countries are also welcome. Participation in the workshop is a precondition for participation in the matchmaking.
