Companies and Research Institutes

Christian Karl SIEBENWURST GmbH Co. KG, Dietfurt
The larger German model and mould design and construction company developed special knowhow and equipment for fast serial production of fibre-reinforced polymer parts, inspired by classical sheet metal processing. Research has been funded by national programmes. Manufacturers of low weight structures interested in optimal processing of fibre reinforced polymers are sought as application partners (automotive, mechanical engineering etc). Technical cooperation and assistance is offered.

Gummiwerk KRAIBURG GmbH Co. KG, Waldkraiburg
The German producer of rubber compounds developed and patented a method by which rubber can be integrated into fibre composite materials without the need for any addtional processing or bonding agents. Rubber layers significantly improve the physico-mechanical properties of the composite parts. Industrial partners are sought for joint development and testing of new applications. Technical cooperation in development, supply of raw materials and transfer of knowledge in how to use it is offered. > Further information (PDF)

Hella Priem Beflockungs-GmbH, Altenstadt
The small German company owns specific knowhow and scalable technology for flock coating of complex 3D surfaces. They modify functional surface properties of industrial parts with respect to damping, friction, noise emission/absorption, thermal insulation, thawing, air flow, optics, haptic etc. Technical cooperation in development of solutions for tricky surface problems is offered to industrial designers/manufacturers with demanding functional requirements, from prototype/single piece upwards. > Further information (PDF)

Mahlo GmbH Co. KG, Saal/Donau
The medium-sized German company developed and patented advanced sensor technology for on-line monitoring and controlling of critical process parameters of flexible 2D materials (textiles, nonwovens, paper etc). They now offer this technology for application in the production of reinforcement materials and of composites, e.g. to control the weight per m², weight of applied coating, moisture, thickness, etc. Manufacturers are sought who want to improve quality and reliability of their production.

Maschinenfabrik Herbert Meyer GmbH, Rötz
The German SME develops tailored processes for the production of semi-finished thermoformable materials for composites. Starting point is the specific problem or product idea of a composite manufacturer. Solutions can be evaluated by the customer in a large-scale test center. Core competences are in fusing, laminating, pressing, hot-stamping and thermo-forming. Manufacturers of thermoplastic composite parts with specific needs are addressed. Joint development and technical assistance is offered. > Further information (PDF)

MBM Maschinenbau Mühldorf GmbH, Mühldorf am Inn
The German SME is specialised in manufacturing machinery for the plastics industry. They developed a new technology for recycling fibre reinforced thermoplastics which is suitable for natural, glass and carbon fibre reinforced materials. The one-step process directly transforms used plastic scraps into new products. Mechanical properties of the end products are excellent. The company is looking for industrial partners who want to implement this new technology in their production. > Further information (PDF)

Metawell GmbH metal sandwich technology, Neuburg/Donau
The German medium sized company developed a technology for manufacturing lightweight aluminium sandwich components in curved geometries with good temperatur stability. Due to the smooth surface of the aluminium elements, they are an ideal supporting material for various kinds of finishing - from printing over varnishing to foil lamination. The company offers technical cooperation, material supply and transfer of knowledge to manufactures interested in using aluminum lightweight sandwich panels. > Further information (PDF)

Siltex Flecht- und Isoliertechnologie Holzmüller GmbH Co. KG, Julbach
The small German company is specialised in manufacturing breaded structures (cords, tapes and sleevings) from different type of fibres. They are important partners in many ambitious product development projects, e.g. for carbon-fibre reinforced skis, tennis racks and other sports equipment. They offer development and supply partnership for new products in other industrial fields to manufacturers interested in high-load low-weight composite structures.

United Initiators GmbH Co.KG, Pullach
A medium sized Germany based company develops and manufactures organic peroxides as polymerisation initiators for unsaturated polyester resins in composite production. Partners sought are manufacturers of resin systems as well as all those composite producers formulating their resins systems themselves in-house. Joint development and technical cooperation, assistance and special application services are offered for product-oriented material optimisation. > Further information (PDF)

Universität Bayreuth, Lehrstuhl für Polymere Werkstoffe
The Bavarian university hosts one of the leading research groups in the field of polymer composite materials in Germany. Their core competence lay on understanding and optimizing the interrelationship among Structure-Processing-Properties, with activities including thermoplastic and thermosetting composites. Joint development is offered to manufacturers of resin systems and composite parts, from chemical characterisation to process optimization to product properties. > Further information (PDF)

Further Partners of the Bavarian Cluster New Materials

CG Tec GmbH, Spalt
The small German company is specialized in developing and producing pultruded semi finished carbon fibre and glass fibre reinforced polymer parts, e.g. rods, tubes and shafts used in industry for manufacturing of roboter arms, spring elements and all sorts of sports equipment. The company offers technical cooperation, supply and transfer of knowledge in this materials to manufactures interested in using light weight composites structures for the first time for the development of new products. > Further information (PDF)

Krauss Maffei Technologies
A larger German company developed a new production process for fibre-reinforced
polyurethane parts with excellent mechanical properties and surface optics. The Fibre
Composite Spraying (FCS) process enables very flexible response to the demanding
specifications for mechanical properties and surface optics, and at the same time keeps
investment and manufacturing costs low. The company offers machinery and technical
assistance to manufactures interested in implementing this new process.

Development Center for X-ray Technology (EZRT), Fürth
The German research institute develops advanced methods for non-destructive X-ray inspection for novel applications. They cover the whole chain from analysing the requirements up to implementing suitable inspection prototypes including an automatic evaluation. A large variety of industrial products can be analysed, e.g. fiber composite materials. Technical cooperation is offered to industrial manufactureres for product/production process development, improvement or quality control. > Further information (PDF)

Project Area Bayern Innovativ

Cluster Neue Werkstoffe managed by Bayern Innovativ GmbH, Nürnberg
The Cluster New Materials aims at strengthening the interconnections between key players in materials industry and sciences – from development and processing up to the application of new materials in the manufacturing of components. This is done by establishing a constantly updated und pro-actively organized platform for information and communication. Hereby a dynamic dialog of all participants is stimulated with the target to form cooperative projects, which are supported and accompanied by the CNW management.

Bayern Innovativ GmbH, Nürnberg
Initiation of innovation through access to new technologies, and initiation of technology and industry cooperation National and international technology transfer platforms for business and science. Development and management of clusters and networks.

EU Co-operation Unit Bayern Innovativ GmbH, Nürnberg
As a partner of the Enterprise Europe Network, the EU Co-operation Unit of Bayern Innovativ helps small and medium sized enterprises (SME) to market their technologies and to find partners for solving technological problems. The EU Co-operation Unit organises the Bavarian technology exhibition and business meetings at the JEC 2010, in close cooperation with the Bavarian Cluster New Materials.
